Hello jfurtaw. While not a veteran, I just wanted to let you know you are welcome to call the dietitian if you need some advice/input. You should be able to tolerate solid foods at this point in time. If not (i.e. vomiting frequently, experiencing pain/discomfort), then we need to investigate why you're not tolerating them. If you mean "tolerating" in a portion size way, then yes, your portion sizes will still be small. Portion sizes get bigger with time, but you may be able to consume only 2-4 ounces at a meal at this point. At 8 weeks post-op, you are able to start reintroducing crunchy veggies and fruits and grain products like crackers, pasta. Choose high fiber grain products and limit white bread. When you start to add new foods into your diet, go slow and add one new food at a time. Again, any questions feel free to call St. John Weight Loss and speak with a dietitian.
